cpuidle is a process for cooling the cpu. (see http://www.cpuidle.de/) it set the processor in sleep mode if not used (idle). this causes no performance decrease and is completely transparent to the user. so if cpu usage is about 40% the unused 60% will be switched to sleep mode. this causes decrease of cpu temperatur up to 10 °C!
